I frequently come across these little forest dwellers. Shy and quick, most are gone before one can take a good look. However, occasionally, due to their familiarity with humans, some will fearlessly approach looking for a handout that they have grown accustomed to.

While hiking the Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado, I came across this collection of boulders. I was drawn to the textures of stone, wood, plants and the curtain of forest in the background. So many places I wander past broadcast a mood, an energy, similar to the way a musical score can stir inner feelings. It's these moments that draw me in to linger awhile. I breathe deep, close my eyes, reach out with gratitude and, in some strange way, drink in the space or dissolve into it. It's this kind of kinship that has always beckoned me onto the trail. As a finish, I felt the need to add a bit of animation with the bobcat.

I met this little lady at the Red Wolf Sanctuary near Rising Sun, Indiana. Her curiosity brought her right up to the enclosure fence to see what all the fuse was about. What a beautiful, charming creature, showing no fear. I was entranced by her sparkling eyes and graceful movements.
